Dalton Sousa, a 30-year-old man from Fort Myers, Florida, has been arrested and charged with aggravated animal cruelty after throwing a three-year-old chihuahua named Raven off a motel balcony, resulting in multiple fractures including a broken leg and mandible. The incident occurred on Sunday and was reported by the Lee County Sheriff's Office after Raven was taken to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital by another man who claimed a friend had thrown the dog 'like a football'. Sousa engaged in a verbal altercation with the veterinarian before leaving the injured dog behind. Sheriff Carmine Marceno condemned the violent act, emphasizing that such behavior will not be tolerated in Lee County. Raven remains in the animal hospital but is expected to make a full recovery. Sousa is being held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment on October 14.
