Alien: Romulus Tops Box Office, Soundtrack Details
Alien: Romulus has taken the top spot at the US box office, earning $41.5 million domestically and $108.2 million globally during its opening weekend, surpassing its $80 million production budget. Directed by Fede Álvarez, the seventh installment in the Alien franchise is set between the original 1979 film and its 1986 sequel, following young space colonists encountering hostile creatures. The movie features a new creature, the Offspring, and stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, and Isabela Merced. With generally positive reviews and an 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, critics have praised the film's ability to bridge the soundscapes of previous films with its own unique style. The score for Alien: Romulus, composed by Benjamin Wallfisch, will be available digitally on August 16, followed by a physical release in November. Deadpool & Wolverine, despite being pushed to second place, remains the highest-grossing R-rated movie in history.
