Miller Family Buys RSL, Royals for $600 Million

The Larry H. Miller Company, led by Gail Miller, has acquired controlling interest in Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake and the National Women’s Soccer League’s Utah Royals for $600 million, marking the family's return to Utah sports ownership. The deal includes the teams, America First Field, the RSL Academy, and the minor league Real Monarchs. New York investor David Blitzer retains a minority stake, while Ryan Smith’s Smith Entertainment Group has exited to focus on other Utah sports and development projects. The acquisition follows Dell Loy Hansen's forced sale of the clubs amid scandal, with Blitzer and Smith having initially purchased them in 2022. The significant rise in NWSL franchise values contributed to the increased valuation. The Miller family also owns the Salt Lake Bees and is actively pursuing a Major League Baseball expansion team for Salt Lake City.
