Gary Oldman to Star in Beckett Play in York

Gary Oldman, the Oscar-winning actor known for his roles in films like 'Darkest Hour' and the 'Harry Potter' series, will return to the stage in Samuel Beckett’s 'Krapp’s Last Tape' at York Theatre Royal, where he began his career 45 years ago. This production will mark Oldman's first stage performance since the late 1980s. Scheduled to run from April 14 to May 17, 2025, the play centers on a man who reflects on his life through recorded tapes on his birthday. Oldman expressed that performing in York is a 'completion of a circle' for him, highlighting the significance of returning to his roots. Tickets for the production will start at £25, with priority bookings starting on November 6, 2024. York Theatre Royal's CEO Paul Crewes remarked on the emotional connection of the project and the unique opportunity it presents for audiences to see Oldman back on stage.
