Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov welcomed any agreement that could lead to an end to the suffering in Gaza while ensuring Israel's security, though he noted the need to wait for the deal's finalization amid concerns about Hamas potentially backtracking. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova highlighted the ceasefire's potential to stabilize the region and facilitate humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts. She criticized the U.S. for blocking previous UN resolutions advocating for a ceasefire and humanitarian assistance. The agreement, brokered by Qatar and Egypt, aims to end 15 months of conflict and includes a hostage exchange. The Kremlin underscored the importance of the mediators' roles in achieving this accord.
