Marvel Zombies Casts Todd Williams as Blade, Replacing Mahershala Ali

Marvel's upcoming Disney+ animated series Marvel Zombies, premiering September 24, 2025, will feature the character Blade, but contrary to prior expectations, Mahershala Ali will not voice the role. Instead, Todd Williams, known for his previous Marvel voice work and versatility with roles in both Marvel and DC projects, has been cast as Blade Knight, a Multiversal Variant who inherits the Moon Knight mantle. The series continues the dark, zombie-themed storyline introduced in Marvel's What If…? and includes returning stars such as David Harbour, Elizabeth Olsen, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, and Iman Vellani. Showrunner Bryan Andrews has hinted at a bloodier tone for the series, which assembles a broad roster of heroes confronting a zombie outbreak. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige explained that the Blade movie reboot starring Ali remains in development with a modern-day setting, but prior scripts did not meet the studio’s high standards, delaying the character's live-action introduction. This marks Blade's first appearance in Marvel animation connected to the MCU, expanding the character’s presence beyond the long-delayed solo film.
