UK investment summit

The UK government is set to host its inaugural international investment summit on October 14, featuring executives from major companies like Google, Wayve, and Brookfield Asset Management. This initiative, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, aims to enhance foreign direct investment to stimulate economic growth. Notable speakers will include Google's Ruth Porat, Wayve CEO Alex Kendall, and Brookfield's Bruce Flatt, with sponsorship from institutions such as Barclays and HSBC. Elon Musk expressed dissatisfaction over not being invited to the event, which emphasizes building lasting partnerships with businesses. In conjunction with the summit, Starmer will convene the first Council of Nations and Regions to discuss investment strategies. The UK government also announced a £21.7 billion ($28 billion) investment in carbon capture projects to support sustainable growth.
