ADQ, Energy Capital Partners Launch $25 Billion US Energy Partnership
Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth fund, ADQ, has formed a 50-50 partnership with U.S. private equity firm Energy Capital Partners (ECP) to invest over $25 billion in new power generation and energy infrastructure projects, primarily in the United States. This collaboration aims to address the increasing energy demands of data centers, hyperscale cloud companies, and other energy-intensive sectors by developing 25 gigawatts of power capacity. The initial capital investment from both parties is expected to reach $5 billion, with a focus on both domestic and selected international markets. The joint venture will leverage ADQ’s expertise in infrastructure and ECP’s leadership in energy investments to ensure efficient project development. This move aligns with a broader trend of rising electricity consumption driven by industrial electrification and the growing needs of data centers, according to the International Energy Agency. The initiative marks a significant step in strengthening energy infrastructure to support the U.S. economy.
