Switch 2 Sales Soar; Forecast Raised to 19M

Nintendo’s Switch 2 has sold 10.36 million units since its June launch, including 4.54 million in the latest quarter, prompting the company to raise its fiscal-year hardware forecast from 15 million to 19 million units for the year ending March 2026. Strong software sales—Mario Kart World (about 9.57 million copies) and Donkey Kong Bonanza (around 3.49 million)—and a production ramp helped drive revenue up roughly 110% to ¥1,099.5 billion, and Nintendo raised its operating-income forecast and dividend payout ratio. Nintendo and analysts say the Switch 2 is on track to be the fastest-selling console in history, outpacing the original Switch’s early pace and rival launches such as the PS5, and the company is banking on a busy holiday slate and boosted production to sustain momentum. The company is expanding software forecasts, citing robust attach rates and growing third-party and indie support, while accessory demand—including a high-end Switch 2 Pro controller—has strengthened. The console’s extra power is already enabling visual and performance refreshes for older Switch titles, making games that struggled on the original hardware prime candidates for meaningful upgrades.
