Heavy Rains Cause Disruptions in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is experiencing severe weather conditions, with heavy rains leading to the closure of 109 roads, including National Highway 707, and disruptions to 427 power supply schemes. The meteorological office has issued a 'yellow' alert for flash flood risks and thunderstorms across several districts, including Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, and Shimla, with warnings in effect until Tuesday. Over the past 24 hours, significant rainfall was recorded in Sirmaur district, particularly in Nahan, which received 143.5 mm. The state has reported a rainfall deficit of 23% since the monsoon began on June 27, with 151 fatalities and economic losses amounting to Rs 1,265 crore due to rain-related incidents this year. Authorities are urging residents to remain cautious as conditions may worsen.
