Cheesecake Voted UK's Favorite Teatime Treat

Cheesecake has been voted Britain's favorite teatime treat, surpassing the traditional Victoria sponge, according to a poll of 2,000 adults. The survey revealed that 25% of respondents preferred cheesecake for its creamy texture and diverse flavors, with chocolate cake and carrot cake following in second and third places respectively. Despite the shift towards non-traditional bakes such as doughnuts and banoffee pie, 60% of participants still gravitate towards classic cakes. The research was commissioned by SPAR to promote the Blooming Great Tea Party, supporting Marie Curie’s fundraising efforts. Ian Taylor from SPAR emphasized the widening variety of cake preferences, highlighting the role of baking in community bonding and charitable initiatives. Notably, younger generations are more inclined to try different flavors, indicating a shift in baking trends.
