New RFP Issued for Washington Bridge Rebuild

Governor Dan McKee announced a new initial Request for Proposals (RFP) for the rebuilding of the westbound Washington Bridge, following a previous unsuccessful bidding attempt. The new RFP allows the two shortlisted design-build firms to submit proposals and provide feedback, with a finalized RFP expected on January 24, 2024. Changes to the bidding process include increasing the stipend for bidders from $500,000 to $1.75 million, enhancing communication opportunities, and offering incentives for early lane openings. The demolition of the old bridge is anticipated to be completed by February 21, with construction set to begin in mid-2025. McKee emphasized the importance of a state-of-the-art design that ensures long-term monitoring of the bridge's health. The final selection of the winning bid is slated for June 6, 2025.
