Mumbai is set to undergo significant traffic improvements with the inauguration of the Akurli underpass, which will enhance vehicle flow between key suburbs and alleviate long-standing congestion issues. Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced the completion of the underpass, which had been delayed for years due to various challenges, including the pandemic and utility relocations. In addition, the city is developing five ring roads at a cost of approximately ₹70,000 crore, aimed at connecting Mumbai with its suburbs and easing traffic pressure through dedicated bus lanes. The southern ring road will integrate with the coastal road, further enhancing connectivity. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Coastal Road project will feature nine parks and a promenade to promote green spaces along the route. These developments are part of a broader strategy to improve urban mobility and environmental sustainability in Mumbai.
