Nintendo Confirms Super Mario Galaxy Movie for April 2026

Nintendo has officially announced The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, set to release on April 3, 2026. The new film will be based on the 2007 Wii game Super Mario Galaxy and will feature the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser, with the expected addition of Rosalina, a key character from the game. The announcement was made during a Nintendo Direct presentation, which also revealed a short teaser and confirmed the involvement of Illumination and Universal Pictures. To celebrate Mario's 40th anniversary and the upcoming movie, Nintendo is releasing a double pack of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Nintendo Switch on October 2, 2025, including new content related to Rosalina. The sequel aims to deliver a cosmic adventure with intergalactic settings and surprises for fans across Mario's history, continuing the franchise's success in both gaming and film. The original Super Mario Bros. Movie earned $1.36 billion globally, setting a record as the highest-grossing video game adaptation ever.
