Sara Gilbert, who played Dr. Leslie Winkle on The Big Bang Theory, recently discussed her character's gradual exit from the show, attributing it to the writers 'hitting a wall' with Leslie's storylines. Gilbert expressed that she would have liked to appear in more episodes and remains open to reprising her role in future spinoffs, such as the upcoming Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. Executive producer Steve Molaro explained that Leslie was never intended as a permanent character, as the show was focused on exploring different storylines and not establishing a long-term partner for Leonard, with the main romantic arc set with Penny. Leslie's presence was also a way to introduce more female scientists into the series. Ultimately, Gilbert reflected positively on her time with the show, stating she enjoyed the experience and would be happy to return if the opportunity arises.
