BT Reportedly Considers Takeover of Struggling TalkTalk in UK Broadband Market

BT is concerned about the impact of TalkTalk's financial troubles on its Openreach network, as many TalkTalk customers rely on it, and a takeover could secure BT's market position, potentially controlling about 36% of the UK broadband market. However, no formal talks or bids have been made yet, and any acquisition would likely face intense scrutiny from regulators due to competition concerns. Rival Virgin Media O2 has also considered acquiring TalkTalk in the past.
