Arrests in Baton Rouge, Memphis and Grand Island

Authorities made arrests this week in three separate shootings in Grand Island, Baton Rouge and Memphis. In Grand Island, police arrested driver Aubriyana Pecor, 18, and passenger Kiyson Witte, 19, after two shots were fired from a moving vehicle near Third and Elm; the vehicle’s rear fender was struck, there were no injuries, the incident was linked to a Sept. 8 attack on the same victim, and police say Witte resisted arrest and injured an officer. In Baton Rouge, detectives traced a suspect vehicle after a short pursuit and crash in the Sept. 17 slaying of 19-year-old Joseph Mitchell and arrested DeKendall Hickman, 26, and Larry Thompson; Hickman was booked on first-degree murder, multiple attempted-murder counts and other weapons charges, while Thompson faces machine-gun and controlled-substance–related firearm charges. In Memphis, Donterrio Jackson and Ethan Butler were charged in a July 7 shooting outside a northeast market that left a man dead; authorities say Butler fled by car and Jackson ran but both were later identified in a lineup and remain in custody as investigations proceed.
