Victor Yanez Arrested in Connection with Lubbock Murder
Joshua Rios, aged 38, was fatally shot early Monday morning at a business in the 1800 block of Clovis Road in North Lubbock following an argument that escalated outside and resulted in gunfire. Lubbock police responded to the scene around 2:10 a.m. and found Rios with serious injuries; he was later pronounced dead at University Medical Center. The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit quickly identified 22-year-old Victor Yanez as the prime suspect, describing him as armed and dangerous and issuing a public plea for assistance in locating him. Yanez surrendered to authorities on Thursday and was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a murder charge. The incident is believed to be isolated, with the investigation ongoing. Officials continue to encourage anyone with information to contact Crime Line or local detectives.
