Fatal Crash on Hillside Road in Amarillo

A tragic two-vehicle crash on January 14, 2025, at the intersection of Hillside Road and Bell Street in Amarillo resulted in the death of 37-year-old Dylan Thomas Bird and injuries to two others. Bird was driving a Subaru when he made an unsafe lane change, colliding with a Ford Focus, leading both vehicles to lose control and strike a house and an electrical pole. The child passenger in Bird's vehicle sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Ford Focus suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The Amarillo Police Department's Traffic Investigation Unit is conducting an investigation and has closed the eastbound lanes of Hillside Road for several blocks.
