Tornadoes Strike Southern US, NWS Confirms Multiple Touchdowns Across Regions
A series of weak tornadoes were confirmed across the Southeast over the weekend, with the National Weather Service verifying touchdowns in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia. An EF-0 tornado briefly touched down in Lowesville, North Carolina, causing minor tree damage, while another EF-0 tornado in Easley, South Carolina, snapped tree limbs and uprooted pine trees along a 2.71-mile path. In Jackson County, Alabama, an EF-1 tornado with winds up to 100 mph damaged the Rosalie Volunteer Fire Department. Hall County, Georgia, also experienced a tornado with peak winds of 90 mph, which uprooted trees and damaged several docks but resulted in no reported injuries. These events were part of a broader storm system that brought heavy rain and severe weather across the region. No significant injuries were reported from any of the tornadoes.
