Man Charged With Attempted Murder and Dog Theft
Julian Mead, a 40-year-old man from Aspley, has been charged with attempted murder following an incident on October 1 in Nottingham, where a woman in her forties was found seriously injured. Emergency services responded to Bells Lane, and while the woman's injuries are serious, they are not life-threatening. Mead is also charged with making a threat with an offensive weapon and is believed to be the first person charged with dognapping under the newly enacted Pet Abduction Act (2024) after a dog was reported stolen from a nearby property. He appeared in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on October 9 and has been remanded in custody, with a court date set for November 6. Police are still seeking information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen dog.
