Suspicious Item Prompts Bomb Squad Response in Glasgow
A controlled explosion was executed at Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow on November 20 after police received reports of a 'potential suspicious item' around 1:10 PM. Emergency services, including the Royal Navy bomb squad, evacuated the station and surrounding areas, including Glasgow Caledonian University, during the incident. Although three men were arrested in connection with possession of offensive weapons, authorities later confirmed that nothing suspicious was found at the site. The incident caused significant disruption to local transport services, with train operations at Glasgow Queen Street halted and bus routes diverted. Police have advised the public to avoid the area while inquiries continue. The situation has since returned to normal, and police are working on reopening the bus station and surrounding roads.
