Magnolia Pictures Acquires US Rights to TIFF Comedy 'The Napa Boys' for 2026 Release
Magnolia Pictures has acquired U.S. distribution rights to the comedy "The Napa Boys," which premiered at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival's Midnight Madness section. Co-written, co-directed, and co-starring Armen Weitzman and Nick Corirossi, the film is a satirical send-up of Hollywood studio comedies, especially the "American Pie" franchise, centered around a mysterious figure called "The Sommelier" who leads friends on an unusual trip through wine country. The ensemble cast includes notable actors such as Sarah Ramos, Mike Mitchell, Chloe Cherry, and Ray Wise. Magnolia plans to release the film theatrically in early 2026, with their senior VP of acquisitions, John Von Thaden, negotiating the deal alongside CAA Media Finance representing the filmmakers. The filmmakers and Magnolia executives expressed enthusiasm about continuing the legacy of the film's fictional franchise and bringing the comedy to audiences nationwide. Executive producer Jerrod Carmichael and producers Mike Rosenstein and Erin Owens also contributed to the project.
