The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five individuals, including its own deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and two senior officials from Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), during a corruption probe in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. The CBI recovered Rs 3.85 crore in cash from Subedar Ojha's residence, allegedly amassed from contractors in exchange for favors. Among the arrests, Joy Joseph Damle, the CBI DSP, was allegedly involved in accepting bribes facilitated by middleman Ravi Shankar Singh, who was also arrested along with his aide and other NCL officials. Extensive raids conducted by the CBI uncovered illegal assets worth around Rs 4 crore across multiple properties linked to NCL officials. The operation is part of a broader investigation into financial irregularities in the coal sector, marking the fifth arrest within the CBI in recent months related to corruption. The agency has yet to provide a comprehensive official statement on the ongoing investigation.
