Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) has appointed David Nucifora, the former performance director of the Irish Rugby Football Union, to an advisory role for two years starting in November. Nucifora, who played a pivotal role in Ireland's recent rugby success, including four Six Nations titles and two Grand Slams, will help develop a professional pathway for emerging players in Scotland. Although he will not hold the formal title of performance director, he is expected to effectively oversee strategic decisions regarding player development and performance structures. Nucifora will also assist in selecting his successor once his contract concludes in 2026. His dual commitments include a part-time advisory role with Rugby Australia, ensuring he balances responsibilities across both nations. This appointment is viewed as a significant boon for Scottish rugby, poised to enhance its competitive edge at the international level.
