Henrique Hilario Joins England Coaching Staff

Henrique Hilario, a long-serving coach at Chelsea, is set to join former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel in the England national team setup, ending his 18-year tenure at the club. Hilario, who joined Chelsea in 2006 as a backup goalkeeper under Jose Mourinho, transitioned to a coaching role post-retirement and has worked under several managers, including Tuchel. His departure follows Chelsea's refusal to allow a dual role with the England team, where Tuchel is assembling a new coaching staff ahead of his official start as England head coach in January 2025. Other former Chelsea staff, such as Anthony Barry and James Melbourne, are also joining Tuchel's team. Despite losing Hilario, Chelsea is not expected to seek a replacement due to a robust existing coaching staff. Tuchel's appointment and staff selections aim to bolster England's prospects for the upcoming World Cup.
