Disney Plus Orders Holes Series Adaptation

Disney+ has greenlit a pilot for a new adaptation of the popular novel 'Holes' by Louis Sachar, which previously inspired a 2003 film starring Shia LaBeouf. This series will reimagine the story by replacing the original protagonist, Stanley Yelnats, with a teenage girl, while maintaining the core elements of the narrative set in a juvenile detention camp. Drew Goddard, known for his work on films like 'Cloverfield', will serve as executive producer, alongside others including Liz Phang and Mike Medavoy, who produced the original movie. The adaptation aims to preserve the spirit of the source material, despite the gender swap of the lead character. The series presents an opportunity to explore the story's themes and characters in greater depth than the original film allowed.
