TSA Expects Over 18.5 Million Air Travelers During Fourth of July Week

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) anticipates over 18.5 million air travelers passing through U.S. airport security checkpoints between July 1 and July 7, with Sunday, July 6, expected to be the busiest day at approximately 2.9 million passengers. TSA recently set a record by screening nearly 3.1 million travelers in one day on June 22, marking the highest single-day volume in its history. To manage the heavy travel demand during the Fourth of July holiday, TSA is fully staffed and deploying new technologies such as touchless ID scanners and advanced screening techniques to enhance security and streamline the passenger experience. Families traveling with children 12 and under benefit from expedited screening, including allowing kids to accompany TSA PreCheck-enrolled parents in PreCheck lanes without restriction, and modified procedures to reduce the likelihood of pat-downs. Travelers are advised to arrive early, pack smartly, and use TSA PreCheck where possible to avoid long lines. The TSA also encourages passengers to carry REAL IDs or other acceptable identification to facilitate smoother checkpoint processing.
