Andrew Caine, a 48-year-old army veteran who served in Iraq, died as a passenger in a single-vehicle crash involving a red Volkswagen Golf on the A66 Stainburn bypass near Workington, West Cumbria, shortly after midnight on Easter Sunday. His family described him as a devoted father and son, expressing heartbreak over his loss and noting that his last day was spent celebrating his sister's wedding surrounded by loved ones. The 43-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, but has since been released under investigation.
