Louisa County Police Remove 88 Children From Ministry Camp Amid Abuse Investigation
Authorities in Iowa removed 88 children from the Shekinah Glory Camp and Kingdom Ministry of Rehabilitation and Recreation during a child protection operation prompted by reports of child abuse and endangerment. The operation, conducted by the Louisa County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Criminal Investigation, and Columbus Junction Police Department, involved executing search warrants at two ministry-affiliated properties in Columbus Junction and Fredonia. The children were taken to Wapello Methodist Church to meet with child protection workers and were placed either back with their parents, in temporary foster care, or in the custody of health services to ensure their safety. The Kingdom Ministry, founded in 2018 and run by the family of minister David Cung Nuam, hosts the camp to help individuals break free from addiction through Bible study and other activities, but ministry representatives deny any abuse or harm to the children. The investigation remains ongoing, with no arrests reported so far, and local community organizations assisted in the operation and child care.
