Pentagon Resumes F-35 Deliveries Amid TR-3 Delays

The United States has resumed deliveries of F-35 jet fighters from Lockheed Martin after a pause due to delays in software and hardware upgrades under the Technology Refresh 3 (TR-3) program. The TR-3 upgrades aim to enhance displays and processing power but have not yet reached full functionality. Deliveries are being phased, with initial training capabilities arriving in July and August, and more advanced combat training capabilities expected by the end of August. Despite the resumed deliveries, some payments to Lockheed Martin are being withheld until all promised features are fully integrated. The delays have impacted the operational readiness of the Air Force, but resuming deliveries is seen as a necessary step to prevent further delays. The full TR-3 combat capabilities are anticipated to be delivered by 2025.
