Seven Northeastern Ohio Residents Die
Regional obituaries list the deaths of seven northeastern Ohio residents: John Carl “Jack” Smith (81) of Salem (d. Oct. 2, 2025), Charles Francis “Pat” McDanel (91) of Poland (d. Sept. 26, 2025), Ronald H. Thomas (83) of Youngstown (d. Oct. 1, 2025), Phillip R. Patti of Boardman (d. Sept. 25, 2025), Louis DeSimone (77) of Youngstown (d. Sept. 11, 2025), Tanay’jah Mo’Nay Clay (23) of Columbus/Youngstown (d. Sept. 12, 2025), and Frank J. Adkisson (81) of Youngstown (d. Sept. 22, 2025). Smith, a 30-year Lordstown GM lift operator and avid outdoorsman, is remembered as a devoted husband of 62 years and a patriarch to a large extended family including seven grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. McDanel, a lifelong educator and guidance counselor with degrees from Youngstown State and Westminster, was a devout Catholic and active community member who treasured his wife of more than 61 years and his grandchildren. Thomas and Patti were both U.S. Army veterans — Thomas was a longtime Packard Electric machine operator, and Patti worked for US Steel/McDonald Steel and was a celebrated youth football coach. DeSimone, who died while celebrating his 57th wedding anniversary in Ireland, was a salesman, care-home owner, golfer and artist; Clay, a 23-year-old mother, singer and writer, will be honored at upcoming services; and Adkisson is remembered for his devotion to church and family.
