Blues' Torey Krug Faces Potential Season-Ending Injury

St. Louis Blues defenseman Torey Krug has been diagnosed with pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle, stemming from a previous bone fracture. Krug will attempt to rehabilitate the injury non-surgically over the next six to eight weeks, after which he will be re-evaluated. If surgery is required, he will miss the entire 2024-25 season. Krug, who is in the fifth year of a seven-year contract with a $6.5 million annual cap hit, posted 39 points in 77 games last season. The Blues had attempted to trade Krug to the Philadelphia Flyers last offseason, but he did not waive his no-trade clause. The team recently signed veteran defenseman Ryan Suter, potentially adding depth in light of Krug's uncertain status.
