Long Beach Man Gets 358 Years for Teen Murder

Troy Lamar Fox, 34, was sentenced to 358 years to life in prison for the murder of 17-year-old high school senior Briana Soto and the attempted murder of four other teens in Long Beach, California. Soto was fatally shot just steps from her home while returning from her job at McDonald's in March 2024. Two weeks after Soto's death, Fox opened fire on a car carrying four minors, who survived, resulting in additional attempted murder charges. Fox was identified through DNA evidence, surveillance footage, and testimony from his ex-girlfriend. Prosecutors and Soto's family highlighted the senselessness of the crime, noting no clear motive was established during the trial.
