Unapproved Spa Building Demolished at Captain Sir Tom's Family Home

A crane was used to remove an unauthorised spa building from the home of Captain Sir Tom Moore's daughter. The building, containing a spa pool, was ordered to be demolished after an appeal against the removal order was lost. Planning permission for the building was initially granted for an L-shaped structure, but a larger C-shaped building was built which was found to result in harm to the family's home. The foundation created in Captain Sir Tom's honor, which is under investigation by the Charity Commission, was the subject of an enforcement notice to remove the unauthorised building. The removal by a large yellow crane came exactly three years after Captain Sir Tom’s death. It was ruled the building must be taken down by 7 February. Captain Sir Tom raised £38.9million for the NHS and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his efforts.
