American tennis players Iva Jovic, age 17, and Emilio Nava, age 23, have secured wild-card entries into the upcoming French Open by topping the USTA’s Roland Garros Wild Card Challenge, which awards spots based on performances across various clay-court tournaments over a five-week span. Jovic, from Torrance, California, earned her wild card by winning the USTA Pro Circuit W100 in Charlottesville and reaching the second round at both the WTA 250 in Bogota and the Bonita Springs W100, accumulating 142 points. This achievement marks her third consecutive Grand Slam main-draw appearance, following success at the US Open and Australian Open, and she is currently ranked 120th. Nava, ranked 137th, clinched his spot by winning the Sarasota ATP Challenger and reaching the final in Tallahassee, contributing to a 19-match win streak and a total of 119 points. Both players are recognized as rising stars in American tennis and are set to compete as the French Open commences on May 25. The wild card challenge is part of a reciprocal agreement between the USTA and FFT, promoting American participation in major international tournaments.
