Former BJP MP and ex-president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, has petitioned the Delhi High Court to quash all criminal proceedings against him related to allegations of sexual harassment by six female wrestlers. Singh's counsel argued that the charges are part of a 'hidden agenda' to remove him from his position. The Delhi trial court had earlier framed charges against Singh under IPC sections 354 and 354A, citing sufficient material evidence. The allegations include incidents of harassment between 2016 and 2019 at various locations, including the WFI office and Mr. Singh's residence. Despite Singh maintaining his innocence and claiming the cases are false and motivated, protests led by prominent wrestlers such as Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik have demanded his arrest. Additionally, Singh's co-accused, Vinod Tomar, faces charges of criminal intimidation.
