Holmdel Man Faces Bias Charges in Pride Flag Incident at Matawan Donut Shop
Maciej Wojciak, a 61-year-old man from Holmdel, has been arrested after allegedly attempting to remove a Pride flag from Main Street Donuts in Matawan, New Jersey. The incident occurred on Saturday, where he not only damaged the flag's bracket but also returned to the scene to make Nazi salute gestures and simulate sexual acts in the roadway. Additionally, he reportedly threatened to burn down the donut shop. Wojciak was apprehended after police identified his vehicle and is facing multiple charges including bias intimidation, terroristic threats, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. The shop's owner, Joe Rizzuto, witnessed the altercation and reported it to the authorities, who acted quickly in locating Wojciak. He is currently being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
