Kenny Atkinson to Coach in NBA All-Star Game

Kenny Atkinson, head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, will coach one of the four teams in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco, marking his first time in this role. The Cavaliers clinched the best record in the Eastern Conference, securing Atkinson's position as a coach due to the Boston Celtics' recent loss. An assistant coach from his staff will also head another All-Star team, with Oklahoma City Thunder's Mark Daigneault leading a Western Conference team. The All-Star Game has adopted a new format featuring a mini-tournament with four teams, including the winners of the Rising Stars challenge. This is the first time a Cavs coach has been selected since Tyronn Lue in the 2015-16 season, and the event will air on TNT on February 16. Donovan Mitchell, a guard for the Cavaliers, has also been named an All-Star starter, with more team members potentially following suit.
