Night at the Museum Reboot in Development
20th Century Studios and 21 Laps Entertainment are developing a reboot of the Night at the Museum franchise, with original trilogy director Shawn Levy returning as producer alongside Dan Levine and Emily Morris. Tripper Clancy has been hired to write a new script featuring an all-new cast of characters and a fresh storyline, with plot specifics still under wraps. The reboot marks a shift away from the original characters, including Ben Stiller’s Larry Daley, aiming to introduce the magical museum concept to a new audience. The original trilogy, based on Milan Trenc's children's book, grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide and spawned three live-action films and a 2022 animated sequel. No director or cast has been announced for the reboot, and it remains unclear how closely it will tie to the original stories. The project is still in its early stages.
