Darius Rucker, the frontman of Hootie & the Blowfish, recently pleaded no contest to drug possession charges stemming from a February 2023 traffic stop in Franklin, Tennessee. Rucker was initially pulled over for an expired license plate, and police discovered 14 pills containing psilocybin and a THC vape pen in his vehicle. As a result, he received a sentence of 11 months and 29 days of probation, with two other charges being dropped due to recommendations from the District Attorney's office citing Rucker's good character. His defense team expressed gratitude towards the judge and law enforcement for their professionalism throughout the case. Rucker stated that he looks forward to completing his probation and moving on from this incident.
