A river otter attacked a young child at Bremerton Marina in Washington, dragging them underwater while the mother attempted to rescue them. The child sustained minor injuries, including scratches and bites, and the mother was also bitten on the arm during the incident. Following the attack, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has initiated measures to trap and lethally remove river otters from the marina, with one otter already captured for evaluation and rabies testing. This aggressive behavior from otters is concerning, as there have been six documented incidents in the state over the past decade. Local residents have previously reported issues with otter infestations at the marina, highlighting potential dangers as urban areas encroach on wildlife habitats.
