Mendy Wins Tribunal Over Unpaid Wages

Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has won a tribunal case entitling him to the majority of his unpaid salary after the club withheld his wages following charges of sexual offences for which he was later acquitted. The tribunal ruling, delivered by Judge Joanne Dunlop, stated that City was justified in withholding payment during the five months Mendy was in custody, as he breached bail conditions. For the remaining period, Mendy was unable to play due to an FA suspension and other involuntary impediments, entitling him to compensation since his contract did not authorize withholding pay under such circumstances. Mendy had claimed £11 million, arguing that he was assured of payment upon being cleared, though the exact amount to be paid is yet to be determined between Mendy and City. Mendy, who now plays for Lorient in France, had financial support from teammates like Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva during the legal proceedings.
