Marco Angulo, a 22-year-old midfielder for FC Cincinnati on loan to LDU Quito, has died following a car accident in Quito on October 7. Angulo was driving his sister's vehicle when it crashed into a metal barrier, resulting in severe injuries, including a lung contusion and head trauma, which required emergency surgery. He fought for 35 days in the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The accident also claimed the lives of two other passengers, including Angulo's former youth teammate, Roberto Cabezas. Both Ecuador's Football Association and LDU Quito mourned his loss, highlighting his dedication and talent as a player and teammate. Angulo had represented Ecuador at various youth levels and made two appearances for the national senior team, the last being in March 2023.
