Five Critically Injured in Head-On Gloucester Route 128 Crash
A serious head-on collision occurred early Monday morning on Route 128 over the Annisquam River in Gloucester, Massachusetts, involving two vehicles with one overturned. Five people were injured, including three in critical condition: an 18-year-old man flown to a Boston hospital, two 19-year-old women (one transferred to Tufts Medical Center), and an 80-year-old man taken to Lahey Hospital. Two occupants were trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters using hydraulic rescue tools. The crash reportedly involved one vehicle driving northbound in the southbound lane, and the drivers were among those injured. Gloucester Mayor Greg Verga expressed the community's deep concern, especially as some of the injured are young members of the local community. Massachusetts State Police are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash.
