Salmonella Infects 11 Across 7 States Linked to Sam's Club Supplements

Health authorities have identified an outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder Supplements sold at Sam’s Club across seven states, including Florida, Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina, New York, South Carolina, and Virginia. Eleven people have been infected, with three hospitalizations reported but no deaths. Investigations by the FDA and CDC traced the source of contamination to a single lot of organic moringa leaf powder imported from Vallon Farm Direct in Jodhpur, India. Testing of products collected from the homes of infected individuals in Michigan and Virginia confirmed the presence of Salmonella closely related to the outbreak strain. The CDC has advised consumers to discard or return the implicated products, which have been pulled from shelves, though a formal recall has not been issued. Moringa leaf powder, known for its nutritional benefits, is suspected to be the contamination vehicle, with authorities continuing to monitor and possibly expand the list of affected products.
