Siemens Plans First U.S. High-Speed Train Factory

Siemens Mobility is investing $60 million to establish North America's first high-speed train manufacturing facility in Horseheads, New York, aimed at producing the American Pioneer 220 trains for the Brightline West line connecting Las Vegas and Southern California. The 300,000 square foot plant is expected to create around 300 jobs and begin production in 2026, with the goal of enhancing high-speed rail transport in the U.S. The trains will feature cutting-edge technology, including a gearless propulsion system that reduces energy consumption by 30%.
