NYU Langone Health Deploys Amazon's Palm-Scanning Technology

NYU Langone Health has announced it will implement Amazon's palm recognition technology, Amazon One, for patient check-ins, marking its first application in the healthcare sector. Starting March 10, patients will have the option to scan their palms for identity verification, significantly streamlining the check-in process and reducing wait times from several minutes to less than one minute. The technology, which boasts a near-perfect accuracy rate, is expected to alleviate administrative burdens and enhance the overall patient experience. Importantly, Amazon will not store or access any of patients' health data, and participation in the service is voluntary. This initiative is part of a broader push to leverage innovative technology within healthcare, with NYU Langone being the largest deployment of Amazon One to date. The rollout aims to address efficiency in patient management while maintaining strict privacy standards.
