IPL Governing Council Finalizes Player Retention Rules

The IPL governing council has announced new player retention rules that will benefit the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), allowing them to retain MS Dhoni as an uncapped player for INR 4 crore. Former cricketer Ajay Jadeja has strongly suggested that Dhoni, alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja, are the no-brainer choices for retention due to their significant contributions to the team. The retention policy permits teams to keep up to six players, with a maximum of five capped and two uncapped players. Jadeja emphasized that Dhoni's selfless nature and willingness to not be the top player is of immense value to CSK. Other players like Shivam Dube may also be considered for retention, but Jadeja speculates that CSK might opt for 3-4 retentions rather than the maximum. The deadline for announcing retained players is set for October 31, adding urgency to CSK's decision-making process.
