Elton John Discusses Aversion to Listening to Classic Songs

Elton John, during an interview on BBC Radio 2, revealed he rarely listens to his own classic songs, stating, 'I wouldn’t go and put my old music on.' Despite this, he expressed surprise and enjoyment when revisiting his 1977 live album while preparing for its release. Reflecting on his prolific career from 1970 to 1975, John acknowledged the quality of the music produced during that period, noting they created 13 albums alongside numerous singles. He admitted discomfort in watching footage of himself, saying, 'I never watch anything about me because I just don't like to look at myself very often.' The singer shared that he was initially tense watching his documentary, 'Elton John: Never Too Late,' but ultimately appreciated its portrayal of his career. John, who has overcome personal struggles with addiction, credits music for saving his life and is currently promoting his upcoming collaborative album with Brandi Carlile, titled 'Who Believes in Angels?'.
